Alleged drunken driver accused of hitting Von Ormy officer

A Von Ormy police officer is expected to make a full, but long, recovery after her vehicle was hit by an alleged drunken driver Friday morning in Southwest Bexar County, deputies said.

Mark Andrew Seemann, 45, is charged with intoxication assault of a peace officer with bail set at $100,000, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

The officer was getting out of her patrol unit to provide traffic control for a stalled 18-wheeler at about 2:30 a.m. on Interstate 35 and South Loop 1604 when Seemann’s small truck rear-ended her vehicle, deputies said.

The critically injured officer was taken by Airlife helicopter to San Antonio Military Medical Center. Deputies said her condition was stabilized and she is expected to make a full recovery.

Seemann did not sustain any injuries from the crash.

Investigators said a strong odor of alcohol was detected on Seemann. He was taken into custody at the scene.
