The woman had been getting ready for work when Blount arrived and began an argument. She told her daughter to call the police, but Blount went into the girl’s bedroom and took her cell phone.

The daughter ran for help but neighbors did not answer the door. She returned to the home, where she witnessed Blount hitting her mother and heard four to five “thud” sounds from behind a closed door, the affidavit states.

She left the home again and found someone to call 911. When officers arrived, the woman was unresponsive. Blount had fled the scene but his vehicle was parked outside.

EMTs immediately began life-saving measures. They were able to regain a heartbeat and transported the woman to a hospital. She had severe injuries and was no longer breathing on her own. Medical staff had her on a ventilator to keep her alive.

Blount’s bond was set at $85,000, according to court records.
