With Braiden McGregor injured, Jets sign Nate Lynn to active roster
Edge defender Braiden McGregor is out for the season after tearing a pectoral muscle in the team’s Week 4 loss to the Chicago Bears. Replacing him on the roster is a familiar name to Jets fans, Nate Lynn.
Lynn signed with the team during the summer a few weeks into training camp. He seemed like the longest of long shots to make the team at the time, but played his way into legitimate contention with a strong preseason. Lynn posted 3 sacks in the final two exhibition games. While McGregor ultimately got the nod for the final edge defender spot on the roster, Lynn was signed to the practice squad.
It will be interesting to see whether Lynn is used differently from McGregor. While McGregor did start earning some time on passing situations, the Jets also utilized him on early downs to do the dirty work setting the edge. To this point, Lynn has seemed more like a pass rusher.
Either way, I do expect Lynn to get snaps in Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns.
