Oct. 6 (UPI) — Bijan Robinson ignited for a 59-yard score on his first carry and the Atlanta Falcons were off and running in a 45-24 thrashing of the New Orleans Saints.

The All-Pro running back accounted for 147 of the Falcons' 420 yards and scored the first two touchdowns of the lopsided triumph Monday in New Orleans.

"This is a great win, but we've got to keep on getting better," Robinson told reporters.

Meanwhile, backup Brian Robinson Jr. chipped in 67 yards from scrimmage and three scores for the Falcons, who improved to 2-2, with both wins under quarterback Michael Penix Jr.

"We are just being rewarded for all the work we put in during the week," Robinson Jr. said. "We expect to come out here and have games like this."

Penix completed 15 of 20 passes for 223 yards and a score for the Falcons. He connected with top wide receiver Drake London five times for 96 yards.

The Falcons carried a 14-0 lead into the second quarter, thanks to their starting running back's heroics. Saints running back Alvin Kamara cut the deficit in half with a 3-yard score three seconds into the second quarter.

The Falcons added 10 points in the quarter, courtesy of a Brian Robinson Jr. 4-yard run and a Nick Folk field goal, for a 24-7 lead at the break. The latter Robinson scored for a second time at the end of a 9-play, 74-yard drive in the third quarter.

Penix hit Jahan Dotson with a 31-yard touchdown toss about five minutes into the fourth. Robinson Jr. scored the Falcons' final touchdown with an 11-yard run with about seven minutes remaining.

The Saints scored points — from a Daniel Carlson field goal, Kamara run and Tyler Shough touchdown pass — on three of their four second-half drives, but could not complete a rally. They totaled 320 yards in the loss.

Shough completed 30 of 48 passes for 286 yards, including a 3-yard touchdown toss to wide receiver Devaughn Vele. Wide receiver Chris Olave caught eight passes for a game-high 116 yards. Kamara totaled 58 yards from scrimmage in the setback.

The Saints (1-3) will host the Minnesota Vikings (4-0) at 1 p.m. EDT Sunday in New Orleans. The Falcons (2-2) will host the Baltimore Ravens (3-1) at 8:20 p.m. Sunday in Atlanta.
