A Converse woman said her home has been changing around her, and she wants to know whether a major construction project across the street has anything to do with it.
Kimberley Winn said she first started noticing problems within the last year. Her home was built in 2021.
The floor is uneven enough that visitors have tripped, she said.
“I started noticing when people were coming over and they were walking, their shoe would get stuck and they would trip. It started out with one or two places and now as you can see it’s the whole floor,” Winn said.
She said she also has a shower that isn’t draining properly, and doors that became so misaligned she had to hire someone to fix them so they would close.
“I had to have someone come in, and they had to readjust the frame because I couldn’t get it to lock. I couldn’t get the deadbolt to lock anymore,” she said.
Winn said she asked for her floor to be sealed and was told it could not be done.
“I had asked them to come out and seal my floor, but they said that was impossible with all the shifting,” she said.
The work across the street is part of a Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) project, with Jordan Foster Construction serving as the subcontractor. Whether that work has anything to do with the problems at Winn’s home has not been determined.
“I feel like someone should be held responsible for the money and damages to my house. The house is not old and we’re looking at several thousands of dollars of damages,” Winn said.
Winn said she has documented the changes, taken pictures and hired an attorney. After trying to get answers herself, she reached out to KSAT.
While a crew was at her home, the project manager for Jordan Foster Construction walked over and asked what was going on, then connected KSAT with the company’s risk and safety team. She said that in cases like this, the company would send a third party to Winn’s home to help determine what is happening and who, if anyone, is responsible for the damage.
