An 18-year-old man is suspected of driving while intoxicated after he was accused of attempting to use his car to hit a Trinity University campus officer.
San Antonio police officers said they responded around 3 a.m. Sunday to a home on the 500 block of Kings Court. After officers arrived, authorities said they checked the area and found the man and a vehicle crashed out in front of Trinity University’s campus police substation.
The campus police officer told SAPD he found the 18-year-old standing in place at a campus parking lot. When the campus officer tried to talk to the suspect, the campus officer told SAPD that the suspect got into a vehicle.
The Trinity University officer said he identified himself as campus police, but the suspect refused to listen to any commands and began speeding towards the campus officer, SAPD officials said.
The campus officer told SAPD he was able to get out of the way of the vehicle before the suspect drove past him and crashed the car.
Police have not confirmed if the suspect is a Trinity University student. No one was injured in the crash.
San Antonio police said the 18-year-old man was evaluated and arrested at the scene. The suspect was booked into the Bexar County jail and is facing an evading arrest/suspicion of driving while intoxicated charge.
