'Absolutely not': Spurs star Victor Wembanyama rejects prediction market endorsements

San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama says he wants no part of endorsing prediction market platforms, drawing a clear line as sites such as Kalshi and Polymarket gain visibility among sports bettors.

Wembanyama made the comments when asked about the platforms at practice Thursday.

“Absolutely not. I will never do that,” he said. “Honestly, I think it’s very sad to see some players promote it, in my opinion. Everybody does whatever they want, but without me.”

His stance contrasts with other NBA stars who have recently partnered with prediction market companies, such as LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

James recently signed a sponsorship deal with Polymarket in September, while Giannis Antetokounmpo endorsed Kalshi earlier in Febuary.

While Wembanyama does have major endorsement deals, including partnerships with Nike and Louis Vuitton, he said prediction market platforms are not something he is willing to promote.

Prediction markets have faced criticism as they expand into sports-related contracts. Critics argue the platforms can resemble sports betting while operating outside the same state-level gambling rules and consumer protections that apply to traditional sportsbooks.
