NBA players and owners are pledging money to the workers in their arenas who would otherwise not be paid during the NBA suspension.
It started with Kevin Love:
New story: @kevinlove has pledged $100,000 to aid displaced arena workers during the NBA’s suspension in response to coronavirus. The Cavaliers, Mavericks and Hawks owners have made similar vows. “My hope is that others will step up,” Love told ESPN https://t.co/06zSwOKw7y

Then came Giannis Antetokounmpo:
Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo says he will donate $100,000 to the Bucks’ staff at Fiserv Forum. Kevin Love made the same commitment for Cavaliers’ arena staff on Thursday.

It’s heartwarming to see a man that young reaching out and making a difference out of reverence to his upbringing.
But the players aren’t the only ones stepping up.
Mav’s owner Mark Cuban is working out a plan to cover all hourly employees during the shutdown:

It’s great to see all the goodwill coming, but this should just be the tip of the iceberg. There are 500+ players, coaches, assistants, and trainers who should all be offering support to the people who keep the arenas alive while the games are played.
I’ll keep updating as more of these pledges come in, or (hopefully) be able to write new posts with the creative ways those who benefit financially the most are protecting those who get paid the least.
