Zinedine Zidane will prioritise attacking signings this summer as the Real Madrid boss looks to address key areas in a bid to defend the club’s LaLiga title in 2020-21.
Los Blancos have had a mixed campaign, with Zidane securing his first domestic title by overcoming Barcelona, but the Spanish giants crashed out of the Champions League to Manchester City.
Friday’s defeat to Pep Guardiola‘s side has raised questions about the depth of Zidane’s options in big games, with Marco Asensio, Lucas Vasquez, Luka Jovic and Federico Valverde introduced to save the game.

Gareth Bale could have been an option for Zidane, but the Welshman reportedly told the Madrid boss he did not want to travel to Manchester, as the former Spurs man nears the exit door.
And according to Marca, the Frenchman has identified the attack as the key position to strengthen this transfer window.
Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe is Zidane’s top target, although given the financial ramifications of the coronavirus crisis, Madrid may have to settle for more experienced back up options for Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard and Rodrygo.

Hazard has struggled in his debut campaign for the club, having sat out for a long spell with several injuries, and contributing just one league goal in the past 12 months.
Jovic has also flattered to deceive at the Bernabeu since joining from Benfica last summer. The Serb, as well as Bale, Asensio, Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior, have all scored fewer than five league goals this season, with Benzema carrying the brunt of the attacking workload.
It’s not yet known what funds Zidane will have at his disposal this summer, although the fact that Madrid have not gone deep into the Champions League means the club have missed out on much-needed prize money they could have used to spend on new acquisitions.
