Gov. Greg Abbott will hear from construction workers Tuesday in San Antonio.

Abbott and representatives from the industry, which has slowed amid the COVID-19 pandemic, will meet at the new Cuisine Solutions facility. The 290,000-square-foot sous vide production site is located near Brooks City Base on the Southeast Side.

The listening session is set to begin at 12:15 p.m.

Abbott will meet with Blaine Beckman, president of the Associated General Contractors San Antonio, and Frank Fuentes, chairman of the Hispanic Contractors Association, among others.

Beckman’s trade group recently released an analysis that found construction jobs across the country are becoming more scarce as public agencies and private owners become hesitant about starting new projects during the pandemic.

The association’s 2021 Construction Hiring and Business Outlook Survey found three times more contractors have experienced postponements and cancellations than new or expanded projects.
