Video reportedly shows Texas congressman behind anti-drag bill in drag

The video was posted to Twitter by the account @LivingBlueTX. Schatzline and three other people are seen in the video portraying characters, with Schatzline’s character being referred to as “the Virgin.”

“Nate Schatzline has made his entire personality attacking the LGBTQ community, trans especially children [sic], and vowed to ban drag shows in Texas,” the tweet read. “Here is Nate… in drag.”

Schatzline confirmed he is the man in the video in a response on Twitter, saying that the video was a “theatre project.”

“Yah, that’s not a sexually explicit drag show… lol y’all will twist ANYTHING,” Schatzline tweeted.

Schatzline is the author of the proposed HB 1266, which will change Texas’ Business and Commerce Code so any venue that hosts a drag performance is seen as a “sexually oriented business,” banning people under the age of 18 from those places. This definition would apply to nightclubs, bars, restaurants, or any other business that hosts a drag show.

Pictured is Texas state Rep. Nate Schatzline.

Schatzline is the state representative for House District 93, which covers an area north of Fort Worth along I-35.
