Veteran KENS 5 reporter Marvin Hurst in remission from cancer

Marvin Hurst, who has been with KENS 5 since December 2004, battled stage 4 throat cancer on and off for the last 2 years. He shared last January that the cancer returned after entering remission just a few months prior. On Thursday, the KENS 5 morning team’s Barry Davis and Sarah Forgany said they had a “big reason to smile”: Hurst entered remission again.

KENS 5 showed a recent photo of Hurst with an ear-to-ear smile. Davis said he is “overjoyed” by the results, but is remaining vigilant.

Forgany said Hurst, who is like a big brother to her, underwent chemotherapy, radiation and immunotherapy. She called his health news a “victory.”

“Yet through it all, Marvin has remained dedicate to his job in journalism, telling just wonderful stories of people really impacting our community,” Davis said. “Marvin, we couldn’t be happier for you, we really do love you.”
