United For UNICEF: Reds support crisis appeal

Money raised from the campaign will help provide rapid and effective response to millions of children who have been affected by humanitarian disasters and ensure child health and protection services are sustained in current and future crises.

The campaign is part of the wider ‘United for UNICEF’ partnership between Manchester United and UNICEF, which has raised more than £5 million to support vulnerable children since it was founded in 1999, making it the longest-standing partnership of its kind in world sport.

Collette Roche, Manchester United’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “Manchester United is proud of our long relationship with UNICEF and, with such huge humanitarian challenges affecting children in many parts of the world today, the need is greater than ever for the club and our fans to rally behind this vital cause.”

“Tonight’s activities reflect our commitment to supporting the UNICEF response to current crises in which many children find themselves innocent victims.”

Jon Sparkes, Chief Executive Officer at The UK Committee for UNICEF, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the longstanding support Manchester United, and fans, are providing to our work for children. This year, we have launched our largest-ever emergency appeal, covering 145 countries and territories, which is a dire reflection of the situation faced by millions of children and their families around the world.

“It is thanks to the generosity of our partners and supporters that UNICEF teams are able to work around the clock to respond to increasing needs of children and their families around the world.”
