U.S. Army ‘impressed’ by San Antonio’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout at Alamodome

U.S. Army officials toured the Alamodome’s vaccination site this week and left feeling “impressed” by the operation, according to the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District

According to Metro Health spokeswoman Michelle Vigil, the headquarters for the Army’s vaccination efforts are at Ft. Sam Houston. Officials where given a detailed tour of the vaccine operations at the city-run mega hub, which launched earlier this January.

“They were very impressed with the organization, efficiency and knowledge of the vaccination team,” Vigil said. “So much so that they asked if they could send another larger team today”

On Friday, eight members of the staff were taken on the same tour.

“They were impressed, took lots of pictures and were provided information,” she said.

According to several reports, President Joe Biden is considering tasking members of the Army with setting up vaccine hubs across the nation’s largest cities.  Per CNN, discussions are at an early stage.
