Ty Lue Following Game 7 Win: ‘Last Year Was Last Year’

The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Dallas Mavericks 126-111 in Game 7 to move into the second round.

Ty Lue said that the team talked earlier in the season about leaving behind last year’s playoff loss in the bubble.

“Last year was last year,” said Lue after the win. “We talked about it when the season started, that’s over and we’ve got to look going forward.

“We can’t keep looking behind and what happened in the bubble. That s—‘s over.”

The Clippers were down 2-0 in the series, and losing 30-11 in Game 3.

Nic Batum discussed how close the team was to getting swept.

“I mean, Game 3 when we were down 30-11, I think we were one or two plays way from almost getting swept. And we find something in us like resiliency and some toughness, like, OK, we can’t go down like that, we are a good team,” said Batum.

Kawhi Leonard finished the game with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists. Leonard also became the second player since Shaquille O’Neal in 2000 to average 30 points per game on 60% shooting from the field in a playoff series.

The Clippers play the Jazz in the second round.
