Trent Williams Makes History With Madden Rating

Trent Williams‘ NFL career started to take off when he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers in 2020.

In return, the then-Washington Football Team received the 49ers’ fifth-round pick in the 2020 draft and their third-rounder in 2021.

Since then, he has received an Associated Press First-Team All-Pro inclusion.

He also received a six-year, $138.06 million contract extension during the 2021 offseason, making him the highest-paid player at his position.

Williams adds another achievement to his glitzy resume by getting the highest rating in the Madden NFL 23 video game.

The league’s official Twitter account reveals that Williams is the first offensive lineman in NFL history to be a part of the prestigious 99 Club.

The caption also said, “@TrentW71 is DIFFERENT.”

By being a part of the 99 Club, Williams will also receive a gold chain and a trophy.

Las Vegas Raiders All-Pro wideout Davante Adams received his swag from the greatest wide receiver of all time, Jerry Rice.

Meanwhile, Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett got his package from NFL all-time sacks leader Bruce Smith.

Being included in this group will also motivate Williams to prove that he deserves that ranking.

A Period Of Adjustment For Williams

Williams and the 49ers’ offensive line will enter the 2022 season with a new perspective because they will now protect Trey Lance.

With Jimmy Garoppolo, he was protecting a quarterback who is more comfortable making plays from the pocket.

In contrast, Lance’s mobility will adjust the protection provided by Williams and his fellow offensive linemen.

Despite the change, San Francisco hopes to continue winning and possibly make the playoffs again.

For that to happen, Williams should play like an impenetrable wall to prevent edge rushers from reaching their play-caller.
