Tottenham reportedly interested in Sampdoria’s Mikkel Damsgaard
Who is Mikkel Damsgaard?
Mikkel Damsgaard joined Sampdoria in the summer of 2020 from Danish outfit FC Nordsjaelland.
Samp are understood to have paid just shy of £6m for the 20-year-old.
And, despite having boasted zero experience in one of Europe’s top-five leagues before this season, Damsgaard has since fitted seamlessly into the first-team picture of Claudio Ranieri.
Damsgaard has featured in 20 of Sampdoria’s Serie A games so far this term, scoring two goals and providing four assists.
The youngster is a left-winger by trade, but he is pretty versatile, able to play on the right and through the middle of midfield, too.
His impressive form over the last year or so also saw Damsgaard earn his first senior international cap in November, when he managed 90 minutes, providing an assist as Denmark beat Sweden 2-0.

Now, though, amid a solid breakout year in Italy, Damsgaard appears to be attracting interest from elsewhere in Europe.
According to Sport Witness, citing reports from Italy, both Tottenham and Serie A giants Juventus are ‘crazy’ about the winger.
Both outfits are even believed to have asked for information regarding a possible deal.
In terms of a potential fee for Damsgaard, the report adds that Sampdoria believe they could get around €20m for the Dane.

Given the fact that Spurs already boast ample quality on the left-wing, though, should they really be looking to spend such a significant sum on a fairly unproven youngster?
If Tottenham are looking to sign Damsgaard to play on the right, on the other hand, all of Steven Bergwijn, Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela can already do so.
