Tom Brady, other veterans work out at Buccaneers’ training facility

It looks like Bruce Arians got his wish.

After Tom Brady and a handful of veteran teammates conducted a private workout earlier this week while electing to not attend OTAs, the seven-time champion signal-caller and several other players were at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ team facility Friday to get in some work. The workout came without the Bucs holding any official OTA activities scheduled for the day.

About 10 teammates total joined Brady at AdventHealth Training Center Friday morning, per Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, including backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert, wide receivers Mike Evans and Antonio Brown, and tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Cameron Brate.

Arians, who expressed concern earlier this week over Monday’s Brady-led, off-site workout — despite his support for veterans and starters staying away from OTAs — was happy to see the players show up to the Bucs’ training complex.

“Really pleased and excited to see the guys working together,” Arians said Friday. “Zoom meetings have been excellent. We’ll be ready for minicamp to start a new journey.”

Brady has spent a lot of time basking in the afterglow of the Buccaneers’ victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV. However, his offseason hasn’t been all fun and games, as the 43-year-old went under the knife as well for a procedure that Brady characterized as “pretty serious knee surgery.”

One encouraging sign to emerge from Friday’s workout is how Brady “appeared to move easily, and his arm looked as strong as it did during the 2020 season as he ripped a seam route to Gronkowski, who made a juggling catch,” Stroud noted.
