Tom Brady In A Tie For Second Most Touchdown Passes As A Buccaneer

In just 32 games with Tampa Bay, quarterback Tom Brady has moved into a tie with Josh Freeman for the second-most touchdown passes in Buccaneers franchise history.

Brady set the Buccaneers franchise record for most touchdowns in a season a year ago when he threw 40 in his first season with the team. With another three touchdowns in the Bucs win over the Jets, Brady has matched that with one game to go. In addition, with 4,990 yards passing, Brady is 119 yards shy of tying Jameis Winston for most yards in a season in franchise history.

The 4,990 yards are also the second most by Brady in his career with his best mark coming during the 2011 season when he threw for 5,235 yards to win his second of three MVPs to date. He helped lead the Patriots to the Super Bowl that season where they fell to the Giants. Peyton Manning holds the record for most passing yards by any quarterback in a season with 5,477. Brady would need quite the finale in order to break that mark but topping his personal best may be in the cards. In addition, Brady will join Brees as the only other quarterback with multiple 5000-yard seasons.

The comeback performance should be enough to secure Brady’s fourth MVP award as he has a healthy lead in touchdowns and yards heading into the final week of the regular season. That is on top of the many other advanced metrics that favor Brady over his peers.
