Timely boost confirmed at Tottenham ahead of scheduled Leicester clash
A much-needed positive update on the situation at Tottenham Hotspur has been forthcoming late on Sunday evening.
Covid chaos
The subject of developments on the Lilywhite half of north London has of course proven headlines news across the week thus far.
This comes with Spurs’ squad, just as they appeared to be finding their feet under the watch of new boss Antonio Conte, having been dealt an altogether untimely blow.
As confirmed by Conte himself himself on Wednesday, no fewer than eight members of the club’s playing squad, alongside a further five members of staff, returned positive tests for Covid-19:
‘Eight players and five members of staff but the problem is that every day we’re having people with Covid, people that yesterday weren’t positive and today are and we’re continuing to have contact with. It’s a serious problem.’
The extent of the outbreak, in turn, culminated in not only Tottenham’s scheduled Europa Conference League meeting with Stade Rennais, but also their Premier League clash with Brighton, being postponed:
We can confirm that our Premier League fixture at Brighton & Hove Albion, on Sunday 12 December at 14:00, has been postponed following a Premier League Board meeting this afternoon.

Boost before Leicester
As such, with the club’s meeting with Burnley a fortnight ago having too been called off at the last owing to adverse weather conditions, it goes without saying that all associated with Spurs could really have done with some positive news before the week was out.
And, thankfully, precisely that has been forthcoming late on Sunday evening.
As confirmed by Sami Mokbel of The Daily Mail, Tottenham’s stars returned to training earlier today, for not one, but two sessions under the watch of boss Antonio Conte.
Though the training centre buildings themselves remain closed, Conte’s troops were granted access to the pitches, carrying out their sessions before heading home for the evening.
The club’s scheduled Premier League clash with Leicester City this coming Thursday, as a result, is viewed as increasingly likely to go ahead as planned.
EXC: Tottenham returned to training today and Antonio Conte wasted no time – putting his players through a double session. Looking increasingly likely Leicester game should be okay. https://t.co/ZgU58GVZJX
