Tim Duncan has been officially nominated for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame

It is official: Timmy is headed to the HOF.

It’s been pretty obvious since the moment he retired, but Tim Duncan has now officially been announced as a member of the 2020 Class for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in perhaps the most star-studded group ever, including fellow NBA stars Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett.

The trio combined to win 11 NBA championships, 4 MVPs, made 39 All-NBA teams, 39 All-Defense teams, and 48 All-Star appearances. Duncan recently spoke to ESPN about the honor of making the HOF.

The ceremony is set to take place on August 29 in Springfield, MA: the birthplace of basketball. As of now, there are no plans to cancel the ceremony due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

Other members of the Class of 2020 include:

  • 10-time WNBA All-Star Tamika Catchings of the Indiana Fever
  • Coach Kim Mulkey of three-time women’s NCAA champion Baylor
  • Five-time Division II Coach of the Year Barbara Stevens of Bentley University
  • Four-time NCAA Coach of the Year Eddie Sutton
  • Former Houston Rockets coach and two-time champion Rudy Tomjanovich
  • Longtime FIBA executive Patrick Baumann
