The Texans Are Joining An Unfortunate Club
The Houston Texans ended their 2022 on a sour note, but not in the way that you’d traditionally expect.
To end their season, the Texans took down the Indianapolis Colts in a shocking, come-from-behind victory.
Although a win is seemingly positive, this not only took away the number one overall pick from them, but it seemingly sealed the fate of their head coach as well.
Along with giving up their number one overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Texans have announced the firing of their head coach Lovie Smith.
The Texans are just the fourth team in the past 50 years to have a different head coach in four straight seasons.
Although they have had lots of talented players in the last several years, the Texans haven’t been able to string wins together.
In fact, they’ve had three consecutive seasons in which they’ve lost 12 or more games.
Now, the Texans will move into the 2023 season with the second overall pick and will have a major decision to make.
Will they take a shot at an unknown rookie quarterback to lead their team?
Or, will they use this capital at a different position, and look to free agency to lock down a veteran?
Either way, the Texans will need to make some major personnel changes if they want any chances of winning more than five games next year.
They are in one of the worst divisions in the league.
If the Texans were to succeed in any division, the AFC South is certainly their best bet.
