The Houston Texans are giving back to the community that supports them.
Forget about selling tickets or merchandise because they are there to extend a helping hand.
This time, they would like to honor the city of Uvalde.
Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson revealed the team’s plans for this noble cause.
Wilson tweeted, “Texans plan to wear helmet stickers “Uvalde Strong” for team’s Sept. 11 opener against the Colts, and the team remains in Uvalde today to host camps and clinics for hundreds of youth. Will attend Uvalde football team game Friday night #UvaldeStrong @HoustonTexans.”
First, the “Uvalde Strong” sticker does not only resonate with the city but also with the entire state of Texas.
They could also use it as their battle cry in turning their fortunes around because the Texans haven’t had much to celebrate over the past two seasons.
The Texans had a combined record of 8-25 in 2020 and 2021, depressing for a team that has won six AFC South division titles.
Second, attending the football team game creates solidarity with the squad.
Finally, the camps and clinics will give rise to the next generation of NFL players who might one day wear the Texans uniform, while also giving back to a community in need.
Tough Road Ahead For The Texans
Connecting with Uvalde residents should also help the Texans better know the people they represent.
That connection will matter in going the extra mile against their first four opponents.
They will start the season against division rival Indianapolis Colts on September 11.
Then, the Texans will face the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, and Los Angeles Chargers.
They will also compete with the revamped Jacksonville Jaguars before taking a bye in Week 6.
