The Spurs’ youth used a full team effort to throttle the Pistons

The 2020-21 San Antonio Spurs are the Danny Green (nothing but love, El Verde!) of the NBA this season. After being icy against the Sixers, the Spurs were hot against the Detroit Pistons on Monday night. Dejounte Murray led all players with 19 and notched a double-double with 10 rebounds. Jakob Poeltl also notched a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards.

The good guys had 6 players score in the double digits but easily could have had 9 players joining the ten+ points club.

Here, Murray took what wasn’t his and immediately made it his own to cap the blowout win:

Devin Vassell had himself a night. Here, he had himself a dunk:

Lonnie Walker IV’s cut to the basket and subsequent slam was impressive, but Poeltl showing off some of his passing skills was also divinely delicious:

Derrick White with the nice court vision and finds Drew Eubanks for the touch layup. Eubanks has been playing well all season in spot minutes. As his time on the court slowly starts to creep up given the extra opportunities, it will be great seeing more of his energy plays.

I’m stepping on Mark Barrington’s toes with the music clip, but I couldn’t help but think of one of my favorite songs as a kid (long ago) when seeing Eubanks with The Touch:

Fear not, kids. While the game was almost devoid of any real drama due to the Spurs’ putting it away early, Murray did provide some flair with this buzzer beater to close out the 3rd quarter:

Walker had the best play of the night, the number one play on ESPN’s Top Ten, and of course the number one play in our hearts:

And last but never least, the full game highlights:

Next up, the Spurs go onto Chicago to take on the Bulls on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.
