The Spurs will pick 18th in the 2018 NBA Draft
It will be their highest pick since Tim Duncan.
After finishing 7th in the Western Confernece, the San Antonio Spurs will be picking 18th in the 2018 NBA Draft: their highest pick since they selected Tim Duncan first overall in 1997. The Spurs finished the regular season with a 47-35 record. They tied with the Minnesota Timberwolvers, but because the Spurs own the tie-breaker the Wolves will pick first.
The highest the Spurs have picked since Duncan was 20th when they selected James Anderson in 2010. Kawhi Leonard was drafted 15th overall in 2011, but he was selected by the Indiana Pacers before being traded to the Spurs.
The Spurs have made a name for themselves over the years by making huge steals out of late first-round picks, so it will be interesting to see what they can do with a relatively high pick (for them) that might be more NBA-ready than they’re used to. The draft will take place on June 21 in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
