The Spurs’ 2010’s All Decade Teams: Best Line-up

Today’s All Decade team is the most dominant line-up of the 2010’s.
Yesterday, we named PtR’s 2010’s 1st and 2nd All-Decade Teams based on voting for the best players at each position, but as was mentioned there, that doesn’t necessarily tell the whole story. It may not represent the Spurs greatest line-ups, some players who deserve recognition get left out simply due to depth at certain positions, and more flexible players may be hamstrung by simply being assigned one position despite the last decade seeing a huge transition to nearly position-less basketball.
As a result, more All-Decade teams have been created, and a new one will be released over each of the next few days. Today’s group is what is arguably the Spurs’ greatest line-up that actually played together: the starting line-up for the 2015-16 season. (Plus a 6th man because when talking about dominance, no All-Decade Spurs team complete without recognizing Manu Ginobili. Even if he never started that season, he usually closed).

C: Tim Duncan
6th Man: Manu Ginobili
This is the group that led the Spurs to their best regular season record in franchise history of 67-15. Although they were overshadowed by the 73-9 Warriors and fell in the second round of the playoffs to the Thunder in a wild, fluky series (complete with perhaps the worst no-call in NBA playoffs history), this was still arguably the most talented and dominant line-up of the decade for the Spurs. It also shifts Duncan to center, where he spent plenty of time towards the end of his career, and moves Aldridge out of the 2nd team and to a deserving spot among the starters.
As an added bonus, it can’t be ignored that this was one of the most fun regular season teams of the decade not just because of all the wins, but because of one particular player who didn’t play a lot, but when he did he brought that house down. That’s right, we’re talking about Boban Marjanovic: everyone’s favorite one-hit-wonder Spur, and someone we’ll all take back in a heartbeat.
