The Coyote wins the 2020 NBA Mascot of the Year Award

The league has officially crowned the Coyote as the 2020 NBA Mascot of the Year. The San Antonio Spurs’ icon beat out 29 furry competitors for this award to further solidify his place in masked mythology.

The lovable varment now brings home this prestigious accolade for the second time during his Hall of Fame career, the first occasion coming in 2014 when both he and Spurs sat atop the NBA hierarchy.

The Coyote has been a staple of the organization since 1983, giving fans unforgettable moments, such as the time he became the first mascot ever ejected from a game during a 2005 tilt against the Timberwolves.

Although the Silver and Black have indefinitely postponed the return of spectators at the AT&T Center, we’ll all be patiently awaiting the day we can witness the Coyote’s hardwood shenanigans in person.
