The Alamo will remain closed until further notice

The Alamo and its grounds will remain closed until further notice, the historical site announced on its Twitter account Tuesday.

The Alamo closed on March 16 in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Although some state parks have reopened as part of Gov. Gregg Abbott’s “Open Texas” plan, the Alamo continued to keep its doors temporarily shut.

“The wellbeing of both our visitors and staff are of utmost importance to us and we will reopen to the public once we are able to implement recommended COVID-19 precautions,” the Alamo wrote in its tweet.

The Alamo added that it will update any new information regarding the reopening of the historical site on it’s social media pages.

“We look forward to seeing you then,” the tweet said.
