Texas Waffle House ‘Avenger’ blacklisted after viral chair brawl

A Texas Waffle House employee went viral for her “Avenger” skills when she deflected a chair during a brawl at the restaurant. The video of the fight traveled all over the internet and Wonder Woman actress Lynda Carter even chimed in on the madness.

Waffle House isn’t only known for its breakfast food. Every once in a while it will be trending on social media due to the shenanigans that happen inside. Last week, the Waffle House in Austin became the topic of conversation after someone filmed a fight that broke out between employees and customers, in which one of the customers threw a chair at an employee.

Many people on TikTok posted the videos online, calling the woman an “Avenger.” Carter, who played Wonder Woman in 1975, tweeted on December 29, 2022 about the incident, joking that she trained for her chair scene in Wonder Woman at Waffle House.

Twitter user Wallstreet_Ray, who posted footage of the clash and a screenshot from their phone, claimed the incident happened in September 2021.

In a YouTube video, the woman who deflected the chair claimed she has been blacklisted by Waffle House and “can’t work at Waffle House ever again. The woman, who only revealed her first name, Haile, said she has worked at Waffle House off and on for four years.

According to Haile, she said that night was very busy and the restaurant was understaffed. She said the women in the video were trying to sit in a closed-off section. Haile said she ignored them and focused on other customers. The women kept coming to the counter asking for drinks and service but Haile said she refused to serve them until they got in line and waited for open tables.

“I was telling them I was gonna kick ’em out ’cause they were being rude. I ain’t gonna cook your food, you’re being rude to me,” she said in the video.

That’s when the patrons started climbing over the counter and trying to fight her, Haile said. That’s when the viral fight ensued. Haile said the brawl actually took place much before it reached a viral status last week. While she didn’t reveal when it occurred, she said she hasn’t been able to work at the place after she was blacklisted a few months ago. But, Haile said she made it clear that she still loves the company regardless of how it ended.
