Texans trade DB Lonnie Johnson Jr. to the Chiefs

The Houston Texans traded defensive back Lonnie Johnson Jr. to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Johnson, 26, was a second-round draft pick in 2019 and made 19 starts in 44 career games with the Texans. He played both cornerback and safety in the Houston secondary, and struggled to find a permanent role. Earlier in the day on Monday, Johnson indicated the trade was coming and told fans that he asked the team to make the move.
