Spurs to play Knicks on Christmas of 2024
Victor Wembanyama will play under the bright lights of Madison Square Garden on Christmas day.
It’s Christmas in August for San Antonio Spurs fans. Victor Wembanyama and France will play for a gold medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics, and the Spurs are returning triumphantly to major national television. On Thursday, The Athletic’s Shams Charania revealed San Antonio will be a part of the NBA’s Christmas schedule.

Charania reports the Spurs will visit the New York Knicks on Christmas morning for a matchup in Madison Square Garden. I mean, what’s better than Christmas in New York? This is the first time the Spurs have played on Christmas since 2016, when they defeated the Chicago Bulls 119-100. It also marks the first Christmas game of Wembanyama’s career.
The Knicks should be a fond matchup for Wembanyama. In his last game against New York, Wemby had 40 points and 20 rebounds in an overtime win. It was a bounce-back after a tough game in his MSG debut. The French star will get another crack at making a splash under the bright lights, on one of the NBA’s biggest days.
The Spurs and Knicks will join the Timberwolves, Mavericks, 76ers, Celtics, Lakers, Warriors, Nuggets and Suns on the Christmas slate. After eight long years, Spurs fans will wake up to basketball under their trees, and hopefully find a playoff contender in their stockings.
