Spurs sign David Duke Jr. to a two-way contract

Spurs shuffle around their G League deals.

NBA teams are known to shuffle their two-way contracts around throughout the season. The San Antonio Spurs made their first two-way acquisition by signing David Duke Jr. of the Delaware Blue Coats.

Duke Jr. will replace Sir’Jabari Rice’s contract slot. Rice, who has only appeared in 4 games for the Austin Spurs, averaging 9.3 points and 4 assists, will stay with the G League team.

Duke Jr. is averaging 21.7 points 5.5 rebounds and 4.1 assists in the G League this year. He’s shooting 37% from three, a career high over the 24% he shot last season. Duke Jr. spent his first two NBA seasons on a two-way contract with the Brooklyn Nets, before he was converted to a standard deal last April. In his 45 NBA contests, Duke Jr. averaged 4.2 points and shot 20.4% from the three-point line.

The 24-year-old guard played college ball at Providence College and went undrafted in the 2021 NBA draft.

Duke Jr. joins Dominick Barlow and Charles Bediako as the Spurs three two-way contracts. He will be eligible to play 45 games with San Antonio this season.
