Spurs boss Nuno provides concerning updates on Bergwijn & Lucas following Rennes stalemate
Tottenham Hotspur boss Nuno Espirito Santo has provided a brief update on the wellbeing of Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura, both of whom were forced off in the club’s meeting with Stade Rennais.
Højbjerg secures a point
Nuno and co. kicked off their Europa Conference League campaign a short time ago.
In their opening Group G outing, the Lilywhites made the trip to the northwest of France, for a meeting with Ligue 1 outfit Rennes.
A thoroughly entertaining 90 minutes, in turn, played out, ultimately culminating in the spoils being shared at Roazhon Park.
It was Spurs who opened the evening’s scoring, when Lucas Moura’s delivery across the face of goal was diverted home by Loic Bade, only for the hosts to turn the clash on its head courtesy of strikes from Flavien Tait and Gaetan Laborde either side of the interval:

Tottenham, though, eventually did enough to bag a hard-earned point, thanks to a cool finish from substitute Pierre-Emile Højbjerg:

‘Really painful…’
An otherwise solid result for the North Londoners in France, however, was soured by a pair of blows on the personnel front.
Both came in the attacking third, with Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura having been forced off in the first and second halves respectively, on the back of heavy challenges.
In turn, with his side facing a daunting meeting with European champions Chelsea this weekend, Nuno Espirito Santo was inevitably asked for an update on the wellbeing of the pair, post-game.
And the news did not exactly prove encouraging from a Spurs standpoint, with the club’s boss having admitted that it is ‘too early’ to say whether or not either Bergwijn or Lucas will be available to feature on Sunday:
Nuno on the injuries to Bergwijn and Lucas: “Really painful. Too early to say [for Sunday]. The physios are working with them.” https://t.co/vIwTI0vEdF
