Whiteman, 24, is here as back-up to Guglielmo Vicario and was due to play the second half of the preseason friendly against Leicester in Bangkok on Sunday.

But that game was cancelled when the pitch was waterlogged by a downpour and he was due to make an appearance instead against Lion City Sailors in Singapore on Wednesday.

His right leg was placed in a brace and he was clearly uncomfortable.

Brandon Austin, also 24, is also on tour as back-up to Vicario and played in the second half of the opening fixture against West Ham.

The trio of Vicario, Whiteman, and Austin will be slightly unfamiliar to those who are more accustomed to seeing Hugo Lloris and Fraser Forster.

Lloris was granted permission not to go on the tour to explore transfer options while Forster is recovering from a back injury.
