Spiritfarer Celebrates 1 Million Sales And Releases ‘Farewell Edition’ With Final Update

Spiritfarer, developed by Thunder Lotus, proved to be a critical and commercial breakout success in the Indie space in 2020, with its approach to a “cozy management game about dying” winning over a lot of players. It’s continued to grow with free updates in 2021, too, with the final addition arriving today.

The Jackie and Daria Update is out now, introducing a new island to explore, two new Spirits, a new event and more for you to discover while playing. Thunder Lotus has also taken the occasion to share that the game has achieved one million sales, which is an impressive feat, while emphasizing the end of this game’s particular journey with a subtle rebrand of the title to Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition.

Below is part of a press release sharing the news:

“All good things must come to an end,” said Spiritfarer Creative Director Nicolas Guérin in a prepared statement. “And Spiritfarer has been especially good for Thunder Lotus! For our work to be welcomed into the lives of so many people is especially gratifying, particularly given how much heart we tried to invest in the game. It was a challenging project, but telling these stories truly helped us grow as developers. We’d like to offer our heartfelt thanks to all our fans for their support and for helping us reach this special milestone!”

It’s certainly a game that’s had quite an impact, so after three notable updates this year it seems like a fitting time to wrap it up.

It’ll be interesting to see what Thunder Lotus does next.
