Should The Cowboys Be Concerned About Their Defense?

The Dallas Cowboys had arguably the best defense in football over the first half of the regular season.

It seemed as if the Cowboys’ defense knew they needed to be great with Cooper Rush at quarterback to keep the team afloat.

Ever since Dak Prescott returned in Week 7, the defense has not been the same.

In three of their last four games, the Cowboys have given up 23 or more points, plus they have given up far too much yardage.

Against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 15, the Cowboys gave up 503 yards of total offense.

Part of the issue with the Cowboys’ defense of late is that they are not pressuring the quarterback very well.

In their last two games against the Tennesee Titans and Philadelphia Eagle, the Cowboys have one sack.

That is simply not going to get it done for a defense whose strength is to rush the passer.

Also, a few key injuries to their secondary leave some cause for concern.

Dallas is now onto their fourth and fifth-string corners, after injuries to Jourdan Lewis and Anthony Brown.

One player that has stepped up and answered the call is DaRon Bland, his five interceptions this year lead the team.

But, the best thing going for the Dallas defense is their ability to take away the ball.

For a second straight season, they are going to lead the NFL in takeaways.
