Severe storms, hail possible as San Antonio prepares for wet week ahead

According to the National Weather Service, scattered to numerous showers and storms will begin to pop up Tuesday afternoon into the evening hours. The storms are expected to continue on Wednesday bringing with it a potential for large hail. 

Some areas could see up to three inches of rain.

On Thursday, the NWS is calling for an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 p.m.

Friday rain chances increase to 90 percent. It’s also expected to get windy, with gusts predicted to hit about 20 mph. 

By the time the weekend rolls around, rain chances continue to stick around, but will slowly decrease. 

There is a 80 percent chance of rain on Saturday. On Sunday, rain chances fall to 50 percent and by Monday rain chances decrease even more to 30 percent.

The widespread rain is expected to help alleviate dry soil conditions for Texas, according to NWS. However, folks at the National Weather Service West Gulf River Forecast Center say it will keep an eye out for flash flooding with the rain in the forecast. 

Temperatures will remain mild with highs in the 80s and lows in the 70s.
