Sean McVay talks change after Rams fall to 3-5
Most teams would be in the hunt less than a year after winning a Super Bowl, but the Los Angeles Rams find themselves in third place in a surprisingly competitive NFC West and trending the wrong direction.
So after watching their latest contest slip away late to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Rams head coach Sean McVay got candid about there needing to be changes made for the team to have success again — and put himself in that mix of things that need to change.
Did McVay just admit that his days as head coach in LA are numbered?
Before every Rams fan hits the panic button — no, Sean McVay isn’t going to be out of a job before the season ends. However, he does know he has to change his approach so his team can get back on the right track.
“I’m a big part of this. I have to do better,” McVay told the press after Sunday’s game, via CBS Sports. “We’re going to stay connected throughout this, but we do have to be able to look inward and figure out what are some of the solutions, changes, adjustments, different things that we have to do to be able to get different results and different production from our offense.”
The Rams currently sit at 3-5 after Sunday’s loss and are in line to be the 16th team in NFL history to miss the playoffs one year after winning a Super Bowl. Despite Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp still playing at an exceptional level, LA’s offensive line has badly hurt scoring production and their defense isn’t doing enough to minimize the damage on the other side of the ball.
McVay admits he doesn’t know yet what the secret is to turning the Rams’ season around. But he should probably figure that out sooner rather than later.
Los Angeles hosts the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday.
