SAPD: Two women find man dead, ‘tangled’ in bike on Salado Creek Greenway

Two women found a man dead and “tangled” in a bike while walking Wednesday on the Salado Creek Greenway, according to SAPD spokesperson Doug Greene.

The body was discovered sometime between noon and 12:30 p.m. just off the walking path. Greene said the man was not wearing a helmet and had mud on his face.

“It appears that he may have hit something, but we don’t know,” Greene said.

One of the women walked about a mile to the parking lot to call 911 while the other stayed with the body to help emergency services find him.

EMS arrived on scene and pronounced the man dead around 12:40 p.m. A cause of death has not been determined.

Police closed about a mile of the trail, from the entrance of the greenway to the scene, near Old Blanco Road while homicide detectives investigated.

Greene said it does not appear foul play was involved, but detectives have not officially ruled that out.
