SAPD: Man found with bloody knife after woman was stabbed at South Side bus stop

A San Antonio man found holding a bloody knife was arrested Monday after allegedly stabbing a woman at a bus stop, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

Abel Gonzalez, 41, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The incident occurred shortly before 7:30 p.m. at a bus stop along S.W. Military Drive near S. Flores St.

Officers made contact with a 35-year-old woman who was bleeding from two stab wounds to her throat and upper abdomen. She was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center in life-threatening condition.

Witnesses told police Gonzales and the woman were arguing at the bus stop and began to fight. Gonzales pulled out a knife and stabbed the woman twice before fleeing on foot, police said.

Officers said they found Gonzales a few blocks away, carrying a bloody knife, and arrested him.

Court records show Gonzales was booked on a $125,000 bond.
