SAPD arrests man accused of sexually abusing teenage girl

A San Antonio man accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl was arrested Wednesday, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

Roberto Espinoza, 63, faces a second-degree felony charge of indecency with a child by contact.

The Special Victims Unit was investigating another case involving Espinoza when it learned of a potential second victim. The now 15-year-old girl told detectives she was sexually abused by Espinoza in March of 2019, according to SAPD spokesperson Jennifer Rodriguez.

“We certainly commend the victim for ultimately outcrying and speaking with detectives and telling us about her alleged abuse,” Rodriguez said.

Espinoza was arrested without incident on the South Side. The girls are not related and also don’t have a family relation with Espinoza.

The first case is still under investigation. Police said they believe there may be other victims.

They’re asking anyone with information to call 210-207-2313.

Rodriguez said victims, of Espinoza or otherwise, should not be afraid or ashamed to come forward.
