San Francisco 49ers Brock Purdy Reveals Where He Needs To Improve

There were a lot of things that Purdy did right last year and it helps that Kyle Shanahan’s offense is quarterback friendly. The concepts help get guys open and if a player is willing to pull the trigger, big plays can happen. However, improvement can always happen and Purdy knows this.

“Starting with the cons, just footwork. Being on time, every concept has its own timing. There were times last year where you could just tell I was still getting used to things, even when I was playing. The time of a slant with Brandon Aiyuk compared to Deebo Samuel, they’re two different types of routes. So getting used to that kind of thing, that’s something I have to hammer away at in the offseason.”

Footwork is what he wants to really work on this off-season. He wants to get the timing down so he can allow big playmakers like Aiyuk, Samuel, and George Kittle to make magic with the ball in their hands. As Purdy recovers from his elbow injury, he clearly is looking for ways to be ready for the beginning of the season.

Any Chance Purdy Isn’t The Starter?

GM John Lynch has been very vocal about his support for Brock Purdy. However, that has not stopped a couple of rumors from happening. Kirk Cousins has been linked to the 49ers as he is in the last year of his deal and the Vikings are going full rebuild mode. The other interesting one is the San Francisco 49ers being linked to Aaron Rodgers which would be a huge bombshell. The validity of the reports has been questioned and it may just be the Packers trying to pressure the Jets into more compensation. Ultimately, Purdy is probably the starter in week one assuming he is healthy.

The 49ers are ready to win now. The team is set up to make another Super Bowl run in a weak NFC. However, the most important position is still up in the air. Hopefully Purdy will be able to pick up right where he left off and lead the team back to the Super Bowl.
