San Antonio’s kid GameStop investor now in the national spotlight

Update: The Carr family was featured on Charles Payne’s Fox Business Show “Making Money” Friday around 1:30 p.m. Nina Carr, Jaydyn’s mom, told Payne she put her son, Jaydyn, on the path of financial literacy after his dad died seven years ago. She said she wanted her son, who she called her “legacy,” to be taken care of should anything happen to her. Payne thanked the family for appearing on the show and called their story a “beautiful thing.”

“I’m glad you guys shared this story with everyone,” Payne said. “It’s a beautiful thing, I think every mom should do what you did, Nina.”

The national spotlight is about to shine on San Antonio’s Jaydyn Carr, the 10-year-old who cashed in on his 2-year-old GameStop stocks this week amid the trading frenzy.

Less than 24 hours have passed since we spoke to Jadyn and his mom, Nina, about his 2019 Kwanzaa gift that turned into a tidy investment. Jaydyn’s mom paid $10 for six shares of GameStop to give Jaydyn a gift reflective of reflective of Ujamaa, one of the seven principles of the festival which focuses on cooperative economics.

The mother-son investing duo decided to cash in on the stocks on Wednesday. The 10-year-old now has a little under $3,200 in the bank and the attention of national outlets like Fox Business.

The Carr family is set for a Friday afternoon feature on Charles Payne’s Fox Business Show “Making Money.” The show airs at 1 p.m. CST and the Carrs will chat with host within the hour, a producer told MySA.com.

Payne has been vocal about the struggle between Wall Street and small investors, like the ones who teamed up on Reddit to skyrocket GameStop shares.

“If you’re going to try to destroy a company by shorting 140% of its stock, you have to accept the fact that individual investors are playing the same game, and now you’re losing,” Payne said during an appearance on “Cavuto Coast to Coast,” another Fox Business show, on Wednesday.
