San Antonio’s Hemisfair officials want to return ring found buried in the dirt to owner

Officials at Hemisfair took to social media on Wednesday to let San Antonians know about a rare find they came across in hopes of returning it to its rightful owner.

A tweet from the local park alerted Alamo City residents of a ring that was found while park ambassadors were replanting a pollinator garden last week. The workers alerted officials about the piece of jewelry, one that they said was buried in the dirt.

The ring features a thick silver band that has three lines of small diamonds placed at an angle. Thea Setterbo, the park’s director of marketing, said the ring is approximately a size 13.5 and looks like it could be either a men’s or women’s ring.

The pollinator garden where the ring was found is located in the middle of the playground at Yanaguana Garden, more specifically between the blue Boomerang and climbing ropes. Setterbo said it has been about six months since work has been done on the area, but said this is the first time significant work has been done to the landscaping. She pointed out that Yanaguana Garden was constructed in 2015, so the ring could have been buried for six years.

The ring has a four-letter inscription written on the inside, but the park is not sharing what it says. Officials are asking that the owner tell them what it says in order for the ring to be returned.
