San Antonio Metro Health now offering COVID vaccine boosters
Locals can now get a COVID-19 vaccine booster at one of San Antonio’s many pop-up clinics starting October 27.
Metro Health will administer booster shots for the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines, according to a news release. The city is already administering Pfizer boosters.
No appointments are needed and eligible residents can choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose at the pop-up clinics, mixing either Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
“People now have the ability to use any authorized vaccine as a booster,” says Metro Health Director Claude A. Jacob in the news release.
Those who are eligible for a booster shot include people over the age of 65, people over the age of 18 that live in long-term care settings, work in high-risk settings, or have underlying medical conditions. Eligible people must have been fully vaccinated six months prior to receiving the booster.
Pop-up clinics are held every day up until the end of October, including two on October 28 at Coker Methodist Church and Second Baptist Church on the Eastside. Find all upcoming clinics here.
The FDA authorized Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccine boosters, and the mixing and matching of vaccines on October 20.
