The no-kill humane society’s new state-of-the-art Leeu Naylor Medical Building allows the group to double the treatment capacity. The 17,685-square-foot site also features improvements such as rooms and suites for rehabilitation and surgery as well as play yards. Heated surgical tables and underwater treadmills are also available to help dogs and cats on the road to recovery. On Tuesday, the society showed how the underwater treadmill is helping a dog named Addie.

According to the humane society, the 2-year-old dog underwent orthopedic surgery following a leg injury. She is the first to use the equipment and is ready for adoption.

Addie’s listing on the San Antonio Humane Society website says the Terrier-Pit Bull mix is from Beaumont, where she was rescued during hurricane season in August.

“She is a sweet girl who loves to play, cuddle and shred all her enrichment cardboard toys,” her description reads. “She will do best in a home with no cats. Her beautiful green eyes will melt your heart!”

Adoption fees for dogs older than a year are $50 at the San Antonio Humane Society.
