In San Antonio, warm temperatures are kicking off the first week of January. However, a cold front is expected to arrive over the weekend, bringing possible chances of rain to the city, according to the National Weather Service.

Orlando Bermudez, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, told MySA that the cold front will arrive on Saturday, January 7. It will bring cooler temperatures and chances of rain for all areas on Sunday, January 8. If you’re tired of the cold, don’t freak out. Bermudez said the temperatures won’t leave you freezing.

For the weekend, Bermudez said the temperatures will be in the lower 70s on Saturday and lower 60s on Sunday. The rain chances will be 30 to 40% during that time. Come Monday, January 9, the dry conditions will return with temperatures in the upper 70s.

Bermudez said the temperatures will be on the warmer side in San Antonio from Tuesday, January 3 to Friday, January 6. Temperatures are in the upper 70s, according to the NWS. The dry air and low humidity levels may lead to elevated fire weather conditions across the Texas Hill Country.

The National Weather Service recently looked back at 2022 and what the weather was like for San Antonio. One of the most notable stats was that 2022 was the second driest and ninth warmest year on record in San Antonio. With that being noted, let’s hope for the much-needed rain and cooler temperatures this weekend.
