One local Catholic church has come up with a creative way to make sure its parishioners can still have their confessions heard.
Blessed Sacrament Church located at 600 Oblate Drive is already live streaming services. Now, as of Wednesday, Rev. Christopher Muñoz is offering drive-thru confession to lower the risk of spreading COVID-19, similar to what restaurants like Whataburger are doing to practice social distancing. But rather than fast food, the church is offering fast confessions.
On Wednesday morning, Muñoz stood outside in the church’s parking lot off of Oblate and, with the help of other clergy members, invited San Antonians to enter the drive-thru confession line.

“Stay in your car, roll down your window and let me know what’s going on in your life,” Muñoz said in a Facebook Live video.
He also asked guests to make their confessions “concise.”
“Then you can get your drive through Chick-fil-a or Whataburger,” Muñoz joked.
Some online asked if the drive-thru option will be available throughout the week. Muñoz was not available for comment, but told parishioners he will keep the community updated via Facebook.
It is unclear if other churches are offering similar drive-thru services. The Archdiocese of San Antonio was also not available for comment.
