San Antonio, Austin ring in the new year with a Dense Fog Advisory

Moisture increasing from the coastal regions is forming low clouds, coupled with some light drizzle to form a patchy, dense fog that has developed across portions of the Interstate 35 corridor, according to the weather service. Warm temperatures will continue in San Antonio before a front moves through the area on Monday, January 2 with chances for showers and storms in the east.

Residents in the area can expect the patchy dense fog to last until 11 a.m. Around noon on Sunday winds will keep temperatures well above normal, with highs reaching the mid 70s to lower 80s, , according to the NWS.

Drivers and those working outside are also asked to take precaution as the advisory takes into effect early Sunday morning. If you’re driving in the San Antonio area or to Austin this morning, the NWS is asking you to remember to slow down, use low beam headlights, and leave extra following distance.

San Antonio residents can expect another round of light drizzles and patchy fogs on Monday morning before highs hit the 70s with dry and warm weather. A weak cold front on Wednesday, January 4 will help drop temperatures back closer to normal, according to the weather service.
