San Antonio-area police threaten to arrest over TikTok ‘splat gun’ challenge


These gel orbs are apparently causing more trouble than their worth.

Another day, another TikTok trend that has police concerned. This time, the Cibolo Police Department is warning against doing a new viral challenge. Here’s what you need to know. 

Cibolo police are threatening possible arrest over the new “splat gun” challenge where people shoot toy air guns that fire off gel orbs, sometimes known as Orbeez, and sometimes simulate drive-by shootings, according to a Facebook post. Police say they’ve received reports of people being shot with these gel orbs, and warn that the orbs can cause bodily harm. 

“Incidents such as these are not funny,” the post reads. “It is not a game, and can be an arrestable offense.”
